ABOUT PRINCESS
Princess Reid (born Princess Gates) was raised in Jacksonville,Florida. She began her ballet training at age 7 under the direction of Laurie Picinich-Byrd at The Florida Ballet where she trained until she was 18 years old. At this time she moved to Orlando, Florida where she joined Orlando Ballet's second company. During her time there she performed works by Robert Hill, Val Caniporolli, Telmo Gomes Moreira, Olivier Munoz, and Diedre Miles Burger. In 2018 she had to honor of competing in USAIBC in Jackson, Mississippi where she was awarded a job with The Joffrey Ballet under the direction of Ashley Wheater where she danced for 6 years. During her time there she performed works by Gerald Arpinio, Christopher Wheeldon, George Balanchine, John Neumeire, Alexander Ekman, Cathy Marston, Yuri Possokov, Justin Peck, Liam Scarlet, and Chanel DaSilva. In 2021, she had the honor of performing in USAIBC's gala Festival South where she performed an excerpt from Arpino's Kettentanz. Since leaving The Joffrey Ballet in 2024, Reid has freelanced. She did a 2-week residency at The Kennedy Center, performed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and collaborated with Chicago artist Brenden Fernandes numerous times. She continues to freelance, dancing wherever the passion strikes.
